214 William Gascoigne to Sir Robert Plumpton, 18 December [?1515] (No.
74, p. 42)Uncle Plompton, I commend me vnto you. It is so I am like to haue
busines for the lordship of Harwood. The kinge is my good and gratias
lord, and hath granted it to me, with all the reuenos and profitts therof
duryng ?e nowne age of the heire of Heire Ridman.1 And, as I am
enformed, such folkes as be not my louers wold bysie them in the
cause; how be it they haue no matter of law, nor right therin. Wherefore
I desire you, if there be any cause or matter of danger against me in
?at behalfe, ?at ye wilbe with me, with such company as you can
make, at such tyme as I send to you; [at] which your comyng ye shall
se a reasonable suerty to beare me in ?e cause.2 And what ye will doe
herin, I pray you send me word in writting be this bearer; & thus our
Lord keepe you. At Gaukthorpe, the xviij day of December.Your nephew William Gascoygnea

LETTER CLXXV.
To my uncle Plumpton this letter be delivered in hast.
Uncle Plompton. I commend me unto you. It is so I am like to
have busines for the lordship of Harwood. The Kinge is my

revenos and profitts thereof, duryng the nowne age of the heire
of Heire Ridman.a And as I am enformed, such folkes as be not

esq. lord of a moiety of Harewood, com. Ebor, was five years old in 6 Hen. VIII.
