Right trusty and welbeloued cousin, I grete you hartely well. And if
you haue suffered any person that was vnder your ward within the
castell of Knaresbrough1 to be deliuered at the desire of Sir Thomas
Wortley, kt.2 I lett you witt ?at I am not therewith contented.
Wherefor,
cousin, see ?at this be [. . .]a <reformed>, and not to suffer
any person
within the said castell to depart thence vnto ?at ye haue knowledg of
the pleasure of the kings highnes, or from me, as my speciall trust is in
you, whom God keepe. Written in thabbey of Funtayns þe xxvj day of Juyn.

2 Sir Thomas Wortley, of Wortley (d.1514), knighted 1482. Knight of the body to Richard III; came to terms with the new regime and by Aug.1487 held the same office under Henry VII, CPR, 1485-94, 192.
