1487] (No. 175, p. 114)Reuerent & worshipfull Sir & master, I recomend me vnto your
mastership, beseching allmighty Jesu to preserue your worship & welfare
to his pleasure & your harts comforth. Sir, please yt you to vnderstand
my seruant, Thomas Coke, now late being with your mastership, hath
shewed vnto me parte of your mynd & entent, by þe which I conceyve
you wold I dyd your mastership a pleasure, & if I so myght or may it
wold be to me comforth. Howbeyt my sayd servant shewed vnto me
none of your mynd how or what tyme I shold be content þerof againe,
if I myght so do. Wherfore, Sir, if yt wold either be pleasure, as I wylbe
right glad to doe, if I shold therfore streame myselfe & my frinds also, &
put me therfore to hurt, so þat will like your mastership to send me
wrytting be þe bringer herof, what tyme þat will please to haue yt, &
how & what tyme I shalbe content therof againe, & I shall put me in
deuer to fullfill your intent & doe your pleasure in þat behalfe, or any
other thing to your comandment, be þe grace of Jhesu, who euer
preserue your mastership. At Hassopp, the Tuesday next afore St

LETTER XXI.
To my right worshipfull master, Sir Robart Plompton, kt. be these
delivered.Reverent and worshipfull Sir and master, I recomend me unto
your mastership, beseching Allmyghty Jesu to preserve your wor-
ship and welfare to his pleasure and your harts comforth. Sir,

(December 1482?8.) STEPHEN EYRE of Hassopp.aa The manor of Hassopp, com. Derb. had been let by Sir William Plumpton kt.
and Robert Plumpton, esq. his son, to Stephen Eyre, esq. for the term of twelve years
from Michaelmas 1479, and indentures were sealed between the parties 1 Feb. 19
Edw. IV.?(Chartul. No. 695.) The date of the letter is prior to 9 Jan. 4 Hen. VII.
1488-9, when the lease was renewed by Dame Joan Plumpton, and Sir Robert Plumpton
kt. to Katharine Eyre, late the wife of the said Stephen Eyre.?(Ibid. No. 751.)
