Recovery, before Robert Reade, kt, and his fellows, justices, in the Hillary Term 1515/16, by John Norton, Richard Mawlevery, Thomas Fairfax and William Mawlevery, kts, through George Rolle, attorney, against Robert Plompton, kt, and William, his son and heir apparent, of the manor of Plumpton with 4,000 acres of land, 100 acres of meadow, 50 acres of pasture, 200 acres of woodland, 40 acres of moorland, 40 acres of commons and 10s rent with appurtenances and all rights and hereditaments in the parish of Spofforth, for which they called John Roucliffe, kt, and Margaret his wife, through their attorney, Thomas Hatche, to give warranty.1 Hence John, Richard, Thomas and William hold the premises in due form by warranty of Sir John and Lady Roucliffe.
