Letter patent from Edward IV to all mayors, sheriffs escheators, bailiffs, constables and other ministers,1 informing them that William Plompton, kt, having been acquitted of all accusations against him, is now fully exonerated, and hereby declared to be a true and faithful liegeman. Therefore neither he nor his are henceforth to suffer illegal molestation or vexation to their persons or property, or be subjected to rudeness or discourtesy. He is to be at liberty to go where he will, as other the king’s true lieges are free to do. Disobedience to this order will incur the king’s displeasure and punishment at law.
