111)Right honorable Sir, I humbly recomend me vnto [your] mastership.
Please yt your mastership, I wold be right glad þat ye wold haue a
commynyng with my master in such matters as in parte I haue shewed
you, Sir. Sir, I have so spoken to my master, if ye please to be at
Poumfrett on Munday, ther & then my master will meet you, [p. 112]
and ther your mastership to know in thosse ye wilbe content; and or
els your mastership will pardon me þe reuersion of Kirkbey,1 & <I>
wyll abyde with my master Sir John Hastynygs. Sir, I thinke, if yt
please your mastership, I haue desarveda a dobellett in laboring him to
showe your mastership a pleasure.b No more at this tyme, but Jhesu
haue you in his protecion. Wrytten at Watterton on Wedensday after

Right honorable Sir, I humbly recomend me unto your master-

( 20 Mar. 1499.) JOHN TAYLOR.a Kirkby-Wharfe, a parish town in the liberties of St. Peter and of Pontefract. Sir Ralph
Babthorp, father of Dame Isabel Hastings, died seised inter alia of two messuages and
forty acres of land in Kirkby, held of the King as of his duchy of Lancaster. ( Esc.
5 Hen. VII.) With Waterton it was at this date held in dower by Margaret, widow of
Sir Ralph Babthorp.b Sir John Hastings, kt. was deceased before 16 Nov. 20 Hen VII. 1504, when by
their deed of that date William Plompton, esq. and Isabel his wife bestowed the office
of bailiff of their manor of Savacum, com. Hert. on Edward Oglethorp. (Chartul. No.
823.)
