349. H. HAUTMOUNT TO ROBERT WARNER.
[9 May 1478.]This Letter would naturally have come into Sir William Stonor's hands as
administrator of Robert Warner's estate. (See No. 295.) It appears to have
reference to Warner's financial difficulties which are the subject of NOS. 203,
205, 206 and 215. Thus it would belong to 1478, in which year Whitsunday
was on May 10. Buldry may be the William Baldry who is mentioned in
1480 (Stonor Letters, ii. 169.) The original is somewhat worn, and a few words
are wholly or partially illegible. From AC., li. 64.Brother Roberd I comaunde me unto you: it is so that Buldry
hath ij wryttes aʒenst you in Berkshire of a grete somme, and so
I [communed] with ffarendon his attourney þerin and pat I marveyle
that he would ley þe accions in pat shire &c. The cause y under-
stand well to put you to . . . bylle by Ce[pi] corpus or ellys an
utlary, which wol have stande you in grete charge. Neverþelesse
y have apered for you [before] the m . . . tyll ye may oþerwyse
dele þerin for your availe, and apon the contynuaunce of the same
to make good ende betwen you: for ffarendon ferde pat his maister
had yeve hym a grete charge to hasty the proces as fast as he
myʒth. How be it he was right loth, yef he myʒth oder wyse
do it. When ye come to London y shall yeve you myn avise or
ellys ye sende word . . . of this so it shalbe demeaned and a
directyan take þerin with Godes grace, to your pleasur, who kepe
you. I pray you recommende me to my . . . and . . . ys wyff.
