233 Edward Lee, archbishop of York1 to William Plumpton, 9 August
1539 (No. 18, p. 197)Mr Plompton, after my herty comendations,a wheras some contreverse
hath bene betwen Sir William Mydleton2 and Sir Oswold Wilesthorpe3
for a tith which the said Sir William Mydleton hath certaine yeares
had in his own hands; for as much as afore me they be condescended
and agred that the said tith shall be gathred and inned by some man
indefferent, and in place semblable, and of all other hath thought you
most convenient and indefrent frind to chouse such men as shall se the
ining and ordering therof as to the place. This is, first on my behalfe,
and eftsones theirs, to desire you hertely to take the paines betwene
them, to apoynt alwayes such men as place infefrent, [p. 198]b so that
it may remaine in the said place and custode to such a day as they
haue apoynted that further order shold be taken for the same. And
thus far you hartyly [. . .]c well. From Cawood, the ix day of August

LETTER XIII.
To my loving frind William Plompton of Plompton, esquire,
Mr. Plompton, after my herty comendation, whereas some con-
