[?1543] (No. 26, p. 207)Also, in my most hartiest manner,a as vnaquainted, I haue me hartile
commended vnto you. And whearas I am informed by Oliuer, my
[. . .]b <tennant>, that the kings maiesties oficers requireth of you and
of me and diuers other [. . .]c <tennants> of Watterton to be contribetors
to the charges and staving of the watters of Ancotes, and that you haue
suficent writing for your discharg and mine in that behalfe; therfore
this shall be to desire you, in voidin farther trobles and charges that
might insue against vs both, that you will deliuer [p. 208] vnto my said
tennantd a trew coppe of the said writing, if you haue any such, whearby
I and my frinds and counsill, with your frinds [and] councill, at this
next tearme may might to geather and may take som order and
derection in that behalfe, as may be for the safte of vs and our heires,
if your deed will maintaine the same.And further, whear I am informed by my said tennant that you haue
partly denied him his wey to his mor,e which my tennants haue alwayes
hertofore had, desiring you therfore that he may gentle haue the same,
as one gentleman and gentlewoman may vse one another with fauor,
and in so doing you shall [receiue]f at my hands such pleasur as I and
my frinds can do for you, as knoweth our lord God, who euer haue

LETTER XX.
To the right worshipfull Mr. Plompton of Plompton, in Yorkshire,
this be delivered.Also, in my most hartiest manner, as unaquainted, I have me
