53 22 November 1490, Plumpton
Award by Robert Plompton, kt, relating that whereas William Plompton, late of Kirkby Overblow, bastard, had by his obligation dated 1 Oct. 1490 bound himself in the sum of £100 to abide by the award of Sir Robert Plompton, assisted by Thomas Midleton, John Vavasor and William Hill, on all manner of variances, quarrels, trespasses, debates, askings, suits, actions, and claims, real and personal between Sir Robert and William arising before the above date. The award is to be given in writing before the 30 Nov. next.
Therefore Sir Robert with the advice of his council ordains that William shall reimburse him 30s for the herbage of Haverah Park and 20s for dues to the pallessers; he is also to pay the fees and dues owed by him to Thomas Ward since the 8 Sept. last. At the request of Thomas Midleton, John Nelson, William Hill and other friends Sir Robert agrees to grant William a life annuity of 3m payable at Martinmas and Whitsuntide in equal portions, or within 40 days after each feast, provided that he remain loyal and honest in his dealings and performs his due service, his allegiance only excepted, to Sir Robert and his heirs. Also Sir Robert remits 26s 8d of the total sum of £5 owed to him by William, who is to pay the residue of 23s 4d before next Whitsuntide.
